Creativity and New Media

I have created an avatar in Second Life. This avatar does not represent or looks like me. This avatar was created through my imagination and creativity. I used this Second life platform to create an avatar with blue hair, small eyes, and a scar on the face. During this Second Life platform, I can use my creativity to create an avatar that I wanted to use. Through this platform, I can create an avatar that myself believe it was something that represents what I like. It lets me determine the type of hair, face, eyes, and colors of this avatar. It will also let me determine whether I want to display my avatar as a male or female. This let me explore a Second Life, a life that maybe deep down is who I wanted to be.

HW Creativity

New Media is a brand new way to foster creativity. During new media, anything can be accessed much easier and much more conveniently. Since new media can turn something from plain paper to digital, it provides opportunities for others to access that digital from frequently and modify that digital data easily. Anything can be accessed through digital can be modified and change much easier than plain paper. With easy access and modification, it means that anyone can express their idea and creativity on to that digital data. Like in the article "Disney Tolerates a Rap Parody of its Critters, By Why?" by Brooks Barnes. In this article, it stated that there is a YouTube video where someone turned Bambi, Simba, and Winnie the Pooh into rap stars. This is something new, something that had never happened before. It was a brand new creative way of playing as Bambi, Simba, and Winnie the Pooh. Without new media, no one can have a voice over this Disney video. We will never see a rapping Disney video. Anything new is creative. No matter what the outcome will be. With YouTube, many people can have the opportunity to express their creativity for others to see. It is a gateway for others to access the opportunity that they never had before.

Modeling Reality with Virtual Worlds

There are many ways of using the virtual world. One way is to perform different types of training. For example, medical training. Doctors can perform surgical procedures in the virtual world to make sure that doctors can see the type of scenarios that might occur during the procedures. Doctors can also perform more practice in the virtual world to ensure they are perform trained before perform the surgical procedures on a real human. Another way of using a virtual world is to create a virtual game that is no longer limited to 2D and 3D. It can be a real virtual world game where everyone can feel it was real.

According to the article "After Second Life, Can Virtual Worlds Get a Reboot?" by Diane Metha, one example of virtual worlds is Minecraft. The pros of Minecraft is to help kids to exercise their imaginations and to also interact with others to build and create new things. It is a good exercising tool for young kids to really develop their imagination and explore their interest. One of the cons of virtual worlds is that even though virtual worlds can look real, but they cannot compare to the real world. It does not have the same textural and visual appearance as a real object. Which made it difficult for people to real exercise what they learn from the virtual world and execute in the real world. Like the surgical procedures, the virtual world cannot compare to a real human body.

One way that a virtual world foster creativity is that it can help you see something that you might never see in your life before. This can better foster a creative mindset by exploring new places or new environments. According to the article "The Virtual World Moves into the Classroom" by Joe Earle, classroom uses the virtual world to help students to go on a field trip that is far away. Students can be able to learn about the life of refugees and study the inner workings of volcanoes. Creativity came from experiences and what is better than using the virtual world to explore all over the places to gain more experiences.

I believe that everything will be in virtual reality like it appears in movies. Games, interaction, communication and even school will be in the virtual world. There might be a whole world that is made out of virtual reality.

Blog about Twitter

The Twitter discussion is much more convenient since you can see all the post within a single screen, rather than having to click on each person individually. Twitter can give you alert when someone comments on your post, where else the BlackBoard Discussion do not do that. It is much easier to interact with one another with Twitter. BlackBoard Discussion is much more robotic without any flexibilities. It is much more difficult to exchange opinions and comment on the Discussion board. However, In-class discussion is better than Twitter discussion since speaking is always faster than typing. The in-class discussion is the best way for any type of discussion. In-class discussion will take less time since everything is happening in real time, unlike Twitter where you have to say for some to comment or waiting for someone to reply to your message.

Blog: Social networking sites

Facebook - This is my favorite social media networking sites. It is where you can post any picture you wanted to share with your friends. Your profile can either be public and private. In Facebook, you can post your feeling, idea or opinion about something along with a picture. Facebook is a socializing platform, you can only see a post that you are friends with or the people that you followed. Facebook Messenger is my main source of communications with my friends. Which is extremely convenient for me. Facebook is extremely easy to use and easy to view the post that was posted by your friends.

Twitter - Twitter is more like a decision or information network site. It is a platform where you can twitter about everything. It might be the only platforms that help you reach out to a celebrity that you might not be able to reach with another social networking site. You can simply just @ at the username of the person you want to reach, and it will reach to that person's message box. Twitter is also a site where people can share their opinion about certain things and also can get a lot of feedbacks from twitter as well. It is also a way where you can communicate or share information with a variety of audience in a short period of time.

Linkin - This is a much more professional networking site. Where people post about their career and different experiences. This is where people can connect or network with different professionals from different background and fields. People can view your profiles and see what type of experience you have, the career path and which company that you are in. Linkin is a great tool for the search for jobs and searches up different professionals to connect with. This networking site is extremely professional.

Snapchat - Snapchat is much more of like a sharing daily life type of networking sites. It is where you post a picture or video about a specific moment that you wanted to share with your friends. You can post anything you want, and either can send it to a specific person or to a group of people. Some picture or video that was posted will last for 24 hours or only can be viewed once upon clicking it. This is a networking site to share daily life and a specific moment of a day.

Blog Social networking

Social networking is one of the biggest platforms in modern days. It is where you can freely express your opinion and ideas like out any restrictions. It provides a platform for people to interact without meeting up in person. Social networking is the modern way of communication and interaction, instead of interacting in person. According to Investopedia, "Social networking is the use of internet-based social media programs to make connections with friends, family, classmates, customers, and clients. Social networking can occur for social purposes, business purposes or both through sites such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn." Social networking is extremely important for interaction and communications among each out in today's society.

Social networking has many benefits. According to the article, "Advantages and Disadvantages of Social Networking," one of the benefits of social networking is worldwide connectivity. You can connect with anyone from your friends, teachers to even strangers with different social networking platforms. With these different platforms, anyone can make new friends, find new jobs, doing business to even find a loved one. This is the benefits of social networking, where anyone will be able to connect with one another throughout the world. Another benefit is real-tie information sharing. It let people exchange information in real-time through a chat. Which let people save more time by mailing those information. Since any information can be an exchange in real-time, nothing will be delay. There are also many dark side behind social networking. One of the most common ways is to expose to identity. With today's advanced technology, it is extremely easy for someone to completely find a person's background through social networking. This can create harm and danger for the person who got their identity being exposed in the social networking platforms. The exposure can be names, home address o even credit card numbers.

Social networking will only become bigger and bigger. It will become a daily necessity for each and everyone one of us like water. One day, social networking might replace in-person interaction and communications. It will become the only source of interaction with each other. One day, social networking will become something that us human can never live without. It will fully replace phone and mailing services.
